Community Outreach at MHUCC


Mission Hills United Church of Christ strongly believes in taking God's work to our community. Please consider how you might engage yourself in any of the wonderful mission opportunities available to you as listed below. There are many opportunities to suit all schedules, talents, and interests. Come and experience the joy of doing for others and giving of yourself to those in need. Join us and meet some of the wonderful people that fill our pews on Sunday.
Current Mission & Outreach Projects
Rolling Readers: Experience the joy of reading to elementary school children every Friday at 10:00 AM. Special Delivery: Help sort, package or deliver food to people living with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. Giving Tree at Green Manor: Help a senior maintain their independent living.
	Chollas Canyon Cleanup: Our campaign for this environmental cleanup activity continues 3 times per year. Esperanza: Help build a clinic, community building or a home for a needy family just over the border in Mexico. This event typically occurs twice yearly.
Feeding America: Come join us every fourth Tuesday of the month to help distribute free food to all who show up at our table. Storefront: Our church provides one dinner each month at this shelter for homeless youth. Gala Fundraiser: This is MHUCC's major mission and outreach fundraiser occurring once yearly. Organizations recently chosen to receive the proceeds from this event include the Monarch School, Uptown Service Center, Special Delivery and Women's Empowerment International
Uptown Service Center: MHUCC provides ongoing support of clothing, prepackaged food and monetary donations to this organization serving the homeless population. Women's Fellowship: This organization of women within MHUCC provides support to various organizations serving the needy. In particular, is their ongoing support for El Nido, a home for battered and abused women and their children.
Fair Trade Coffee Products: Purchase some environmentally grown coffee products and have the proceeds go to support Special Delivery. Alternative Christmas: Make a donation to a needy organization in someone's name in lieu of a typical Christmas present. Donations: MHUCC allocates a substantial portion of its operating budget to several service organizations the church has chosen to support.
